FE Grama (Spain)

Fundació Esportiva Grama is a football club that was formed on July 2^nd 2013 that is based in the district of Santa Coloma de Gramanet in the Catalan city of Barcelona. The club was formed by former UDA Gramenet President, Antonio Morales García.

UDA Gramalet; whose story can be read here, had played as high as the third tier of Spanish football for many years as well as reaching the quarter finals of the Copa Del Rey, before entering into financial difficulties.

The Nou Camp Municipal de Futbol de Santa Coloma had been home to UDA Gramelet, but was showing signs of disrepair owing to a lack of investment despite it being only twenty years old. FE Grama signed an agreement with the local council to become the new tenants.

The club was set up with an extensive youth, junior and women’s sections and teams; while the men’s first team began life in the Quarta Catalana; the fourth level of regional football.

After a season to settle in Grama won the Grupo 6 title of the Quarta Catalana in the 2014-15 campaign, before going on in 2015-16 to win Grupo 4 of the Tercerca Catalana.

Grama lifted the Grupo 1 championship crown of the Segunda Catalana in 2016-17 to gain promotion to Primera Catalana; the highest level of regional football as the football club continued to gather momentum.

FE Grama will play in Primera Catalana Grupo 1 in the 2017-18 season


My visit

My Sunday in Barcelona was going really well, on the second day of my long weekend. The sun was shining, and I’d called in to take a look at three different grounds as well as watching two matches. Life was good!

I’d taken in a few minutes of an under-age game at CF Montañesa after deciding to ditch the idea of heading out of town for the Segunda B clash between CB Sabadell and Hércules CF game to take a rest before going out for the evening.

Instead I opted to visit another couple of grounds so that I could enjoy a more leisurely Monday. My App suggested that I could get to the ground that UDA Gramanet had decamped to in Sant Adrià De Besòs. However, not all went to plan.

The intention was take the number 76 bus, but I lost concentration and jumped aboard the first one that came around the corner and headed in slightly the wrong direction. Fortunately, not all was lost.

The number 60 service deposited me at Trinitat Vella; going past the venue where I’d seen CF Besos Baron de Viver perform in the 10am kick off. The Metro Linea 1 took me to Fondo; where I changed for the very deep L9N to Can Peixauet.

The entrance to the excellent Nou Estadi Municipal de Santa Coloma was a few yards away, and the gates were open, leading to the corner of the Main Stand and looking over the café by the corner flag.

A women’s game between Grama and UD Molinos was in progress, with the home side looking by far the better team on the large pitch. Up to 100 spectators were in attendance and all areas of the ground were open, which enabled me to walk right round.

The whole arena had a continuous three deep steps of open terracing curved around the pitch; which were ideal for sitting or standing. The stand was raised down one side, with a large covered tier of seating.

Grama had added another couple of goals by the time I’d done a lap of the ground. I later found out that they had won the game 9-0. I went on my way and walked over the impressive bridge over the river and Park Parc Fluvial del Besòs.

I managed to locate the bus stop to catch the number 60 back to Montañesa, where I got on the Metro at Via Julia to visit FC Martinenc; my final club of the day.
